Shinya Sugimoto & Jeremy Young with Julia Kent - Total Fiction

Total Fiction

Shinya Sugimoto - piano, laptop , Jeremy Young - guitar, tape loops, organ, piezo'd objects, radio and Julia Kent - cello, cello on tape have produced a truly remarkable record for Denmark’s Phinery Records.

For the artwork I used photographs I took at the Artangel event ‘Inside’ at Reading Goal. It was a wonderful almost gruesome show and deeply moving.

Jarvis Cocker - Likely Stories

Rough Trade
2016
7”

Jarvis Cocker

After working on the titles for Neil Gaiman’s ‘Likely Stories’ directed by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard on Sky Arts. I was then asked to design and layout the 7” sleeve for the music written by Jarvis Cocker.

Using elements from the opening title sequence we eventually plumped for a shot of a baby in a jar. This is reflected in the lyrics.

A baby in a jar
An old man in a car
A flame that beneath this room
A cow jumped over the moon
And other likely stories...

Queen Kopetzky - Horsenames

Fort Evil Fruit

Queen Kopetzky

Queen Kopetzky is a collaborative project by Guy Purssell and Thomas Pujols (Nebulo), who work out of Berlin and the South of France respectively. And Horsenames is a musical exploration of the impact of the horse on human life.

This is a great album, one I have played to bits! For the artwork I thought I’d start with the obvious and see where this leads me so I sourced some wonderful Eadweard Muybridge photographs of horses running. It all fell into place after that.

Chiodata

Páramos is the second Fort Evil Fruit (and my second artwork for them) release by Chilean synthesist Claudio Cisterna, capturing the development of the self-styled ‘baroque ambient’ sound of 2014's Dymensu.

For the album I wanted an Arpanet style ‘Quantum Transposition’ sort of look. (Though as it turned out, it’s nothing like it!)

I used photos I took of De l'air, de la lumière et du temps (Air, Light & Time) by artist Susanna Fritscher which I was lucky to see at the Museum of Art of Nantes this Summer.

Isvisible - Greatest Hits (Blue)

Isvisible

Photographs I took of the Tate Modern combined with geometrical facts and figures from an old synth manual.

This album was part one of two, the second album using similar elements but in a striking red. The red and blue colours are a nod to early Universal Indicator 12”s on Rephlex.
